I am a Belfast-based Interaction Design graduate from Ulster University with a passion for creating thoughtful, human-centred digital experiences. I enjoy understanding user needs and translating complex problems into intuitive and engaging solutions. Throughout my studies, I developed skills in UX design, UI design, research, prototyping and visual communication. During my placement year at Rapid7, I worked alongside designers, engineers and product managers on a range of enterprise software projects, gaining valuable experience in professional design practice. Over the course of my degree, I worked on a variety of design projects that allowed me to explore different areas of interaction design, from user research and problem-solving to designing and prototyping digital products. These experiences helped me develop my approach as a designer and strengthened my ability to create meaningful, user-focused solutions. Outside of design, I enjoy running, going to the gym and spending time with my dogs.
Clarity is a technology ecosystem designed to support dancers through personalised feedback, technique awareness, and injury prevention. The ecosystem consists of a smart mirror, companion mobile app, and Apple Watch integration, creating a connected experience that supports dancers both inside and outside the studio.
Using motion analysis and session insights, Clarity helps dancers identify areas for improvement, review their progress, and build confidence in their training. Unlike traditional dance training, where feedback is limited by time and teacher availability, Clarity provides dancers with ongoing support and encourages more independent, informed practice.
I began with competitor analysis to understand existing solutions and gaps. From there, I developed user personas based on research insights, representing different dancer skill levels and needs, which helped guide design decisions throughout the project. I mapped user journeys to identify pain points. I used feature mapping to prioritise functionality and crafted user flows to ensure smooth interactions. Journey mapping helped me refine the user experience, and I conducted user testing with both dancers and non-dancers, ensuring the experience was clear and intuitive for a range of users. I iterated prototypes based on these insights before arriving at the final design
This project not only strengthened my design skills but also deepened my appreciation for how thoughtful, user-centered design can create meaningful impact
The outcome of Clarity is a smart mirror ecosystem designed to empower dancers. It includes a full-length interactive mirror that provides real-time feedback on technique. Paired with a companion mobile app, dancers can review their practice sessions, track progress, and set goals. Clarity offers personalized, constructive guidance to help dancers improve safely and confidently, whether practicing at home or in the studio.
